Β 10/16 Strand towards Manhattan Run

Β We will run down Green Belt to Pier AveΒ thenΒ down Pier Ave to the Strand. Go Right (North) on Strand towards Manhattan. The choices are 2-4 miles. HereΒ are the Turn Around Points:Β Β
Β 19thΒ StΒ :Β 2 milesΒ
Β 24th St : 2.5 miles
Β 29th St: 3 milesΒ (set of stairs on East side of Strand)
Β End of Strand in HB/Neptune: 3.5 miles
5th St in MB (bike racks): 4 miles
When you get to the Turn Around go back the same way to HermosaΒ Pier the up Pier Ave but then take Loma Dr to theΒ School Ramp once you passΒ Monterey.
NEW RULE: If youΒ walk before you get to the 2 mile turn around (19th St) stick to only going 2 miles.Β Only go farther when you have the stamina to continuously run
Remember:
1) Everyone runs the same route!!
2) Be extra mindful crossing streets and look out for people walking on sidewalks.Β

Vista kids will meet at the Gate that goes out to Valley Park and will walk in groups to our meeting spot at the Green Belt above the crossing guard at Valley School to meet up with the 5th-8th Graders. We willΒ run as a Group about 2:00 and will return to the same spot for pick up aboutΒ 2:45 to 3:00 depending on how far yourΒ child runs. We will slowly increase our miles so pick up will be a little later as we progress.````=

Hb Run Club is grades 3rd to 8th and all we ask is that runners ACTUALLY WANT TO RUNΒ
Plus hope that parents support where they can: running (all levels, especially for our younger/slower runners), volunteering for snacks & watching bags

Please help by regularly checking the sheet, and sign-up when you can.
Snacks: depends on numbers, ~70, check with Annie. Typically a sweet or icy treat, and more about quantity that quality. Ready for the early runners ~2:30pm, and saving snacks for those who do longer distances 3:00pm+ before anyone gets seconds.
Bags: are left on the Greenbelt, so a monitor from 2:00pm until those early runners come back.
Run: we need parents to run with the kids, especially the younger ones. We can only supervise with as many parents that can join. It's a fun way to exercise with your kids, and all levels are needed.

Msg Annie if you think your kid may have left something.
Extra Miles
We also count any miles the kids do on their own.Β
This is when they run at least a half mile of continuous running.Β
What Counts
We give credit if kids run a race; run in their own time; mile runs at school; or with specific activities like Junior Lifeguards. We do not count general sports like soccer, basketball or baseball.
